We talk a lot about spin, but not a ton about grips. The reason for this is a grip change can be uncomfortable and may cause you to play worse before you play much better. Now is the perfect time to make sure you understand the grips and how they impact your ability to produce the desired shot. Shadow swinging with the proper grip is a great way to begin. It is recommended 100 swings per practice is needed to have a significant impact. Once the weather warms get on a backboard it is the BEST way to master the change.

The 1980 Borg McEnroe Wimbledon final is one of the greatest matches ever played. The fourth set tiebreak is one of the best examples of baseline topspin against slice and attack. I like watching this era of tennis (besides it's my era) because the court was groomed to be faster so players had to come to the net in order to win. When you watch notice how worn out the grass is at the net.
